About this planner
A YEAR OF WEEKS — Fifty-two plans. Fifty-two lists. Start on any one of them.
Here is the cruel design flaw in almost every year-long meal planner: it starts in January.
Which means that if you buy one in March, you have already wasted a quarter of it. And if you fall off in June — as very nearly everyone does — the remaining pages sit there, dated and reproachful, quietly counting the weeks you didn't manage.
So none of these weeks are numbered January.
There are fifty-two of them, numbered one to fifty-two, and Week One is simply the first week you decide to use it. Start in March. Skip August entirely. Come back in the autumn and pick up at Week Twelve, because Week Twelve is where you got to.
Nothing here expires. Ever.
WHAT'S INSIDE — 114 hyperlinked pages
THE TAPPABLE YEAR GRID (page 3) All fifty-two weeks on a single contents page. Tap any number and you're there. This is the thing a paper planner simply cannot do.
FIFTY-TWO PAIRED SPREADS (104 pages — the heart of the book) Every week is a pair:
- The plan — seven days, three meals, plus what's already in and what to cook once and eat twice
- The list — a full grocery list, built from that plan, never the other way round
And the two pages cross-link to each other. Tap "the list →" on the plan and you're on the list. Tap "← the plan" and you're back. Both always return you to the year grid.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN (the only page you fill in once) Your repertoire — everything you can already cook. Your standing staples. Your anchor nights. Allergies and needs. Ten minutes, and all fifty-two weeks afterwards get faster.
THE WORLD KITCHEN — three complete recipes, written out in full: ★ BIBIMBAP (Korea) — rice, an egg, and vegetables each seasoned separately, then mixed at the table until it stops being tidy. The best possible use of small amounts of leftover veg. ★ FEIJOADA (Brazil) — black beans slow-cooked with pork until dark and thick. A Saturday's cooking, better on the Sunday, superb from the freezer. ★ CHICKEN TAGINE (Morocco) — saffron, preserved lemon and green olives. Much easier than it sounds.
Every recipe gives metric and imperial measurements.
WHY UNDATED ACTUALLY MATTERS HERE Dated 52-week planners are a subscription in disguise: you buy another one every year, forever. This one you buy once. Start it whenever. Miss weeks freely. Use it for years.
